PANA Board Member Runs Boston Marathon

As part of our "Get to Know Your Board" series, Vice President of the PANA Board, Adrienne Ruzicka, CRNA, MSN tells all about running the Boston Marathon! How long have you been running? I started running distance my freshman year of high school. I joined the cross country team and did it primarily to stay in shape and because I did not participate in any of the other women's fall sports offered at my school. I was actually more of a competitive sprinter and did not like running distance at all; the high school cross country coach persuaded me to run on the cross country team. Take Action for Full Practice Authority with VHA

The U.S. Veterans Health Administration (VHA) has proposed a new rule to increase access to health care for veterans by authorizing Full Practice Authority for all Advanced Practiced Registered Nurses (including CRNAs) who work within the within the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) health-care system. Adopting the rule would allow CRNAs and all APRNs to practice to the full scope of their education and training while also standardizing VHA policy as recognition of the important work we do. More than 900 CRNAs currently provide every type of anesthesia care, as well as chronic pain management services, for our veterans in the VHA.
