Why I’m Running for the AANA Board of Directors

"In 2022, only 7.3% of active AANA members voted. That’s only 3,500 of our 48,000 CRNAs in the U.S.

We need to get our state and neighboring state CRNAs to vote!"

For 25 years I have worked as a clinician, educator, and CRNA advocate. I have a strong history of active leadership in promoting the AANA mission and values, especially in Pennsylvania. I have experience in organizational leadership, finance, research, and education, and am dedicated to advancing CRNA practice. I want to bring my analytical and pragmatic approach to the national AANA Board of Directors.

My agenda is to represent the interests of all CRNAs across the U.S. and its territories. This means listening to and valuing CRNAs practicing in every setting and educating members, with attention to fiscal responsibility. I would like to engage members who have not been active in our professional organization and could do so by using some of the tools I have helped develop in Pennsylvania. In the coming years, member engagement will be one of the most important pieces to building not only a strong but a sustainable organization - and AANA represents CRNAs from all practice settings.

As a CRNA with 25 years of experience, I am passionate about promoting CRNA practice and education to advance our profession. I have demonstrated making an impact at the state level and am excited for this opportunity to be a CRNA leader on the AANA Board of Directors. However, with a focus on member engagement, I can assist the AANA Board to better and more quickly achieve the goals in the AANA strategic plan. I aim to increase voter turnout which is currently less than 10% in national elections, increase attendance at meetings, and increase PAC funding, all of which drive the other strategic goals of advocacy, education, and professional development.

Ultimately, engaging our members will aid the collective goals of our profession and advance CRNA practice.

Thank you for voting and for your consideration!
