Congratulations to Lauren Brown, DNP, CRNA, APN-A, CNE, assistant professor and director of the Nurse Anesthesia Program at Thomas Jefferson University.
As part of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology’s Rm8: Innovation Lab, a “Shark Like”- pitch room that provides innovators with an exclusive space in which ideas can become reality, Lauren unveiled a new oral airway with CO2 monitoring

When the audience was polled on the innovations showcased at AANA’s 2025 Annual Congress in Nashville, Lauren’s product ranked first by popular vote! In the final rankings decided by AANA judges, her product came in fourth. (Lauren and her husband, John, have a product solution company, Arete, with partner Jason Keen.)
Rm8 is designed to drive transformational change by building scalable solutions that advance healthcare, patient outcomes and the profession.
The name “Rm8” (pronounced “Room 8”) pays homage to the eight founding trustees who laid the foundation for AANA in 1931. With a focus on collaboration, Rm8 creates an opportunity to bridge healthcare startups with the CRNA/NA community and the broader healthcare market.
Congratulations to Lauren for helping to revolutionize healthcare with this innovation!
Do you have a great idea? Rm8 provides a supportive environment for AANA members and others to incubate product and service ideas or facilitate growth in emerging startups. Submit your idea for AANA Innovation Panel consideration.
